Granny Told Me

Aren't we all just searching for Happiness in this life? I think the best advice my grandmother ever gave me was to make my own happiness. She told me, happiness is not something you can find in anyone or anything else, only within yourself. Don't depend on others for your happiness, she told me. Friends and lovers come and go. Happiness is a state of mind that you enter when you decide that the world around you is enough. Life is beautiful, worth living, and enjoying. Happiness is not determined by what's happening around you, but rather what's happening inside of you. If you are happy within yourself and love yourself, no one can ever take your happiness away from you.
This painting is in loving memory of my grandmother. The woman was painted to resemble her facial features. I miss her every day. R.I.P. Granny. I love you more than air.
